S eptember's meeting will give us an opportunity to practice had tool skills with planes and chisels. Please bring in your planes, chisels and sharpening stones so we will share techniques for use.
Also mark your calender for the Carver's show. See below. We also need to set aside a separate time to complete work on the Guild's cabinet that we started on several meetings ago.
We would like to get pictures of projects that you would like to show off on our website. Please bring in items or photos of projects. We will be able to take pictures if you do not have a camera.
A new challenge has been set. Please make a toy to present at the December meeting. If you wish it can be donated for our toy drive for the Berea's Childrens Home..
T he Great Lakes Wood Carver's show will be August 24-25 at the Strongsville Senior Center. We need members to sign up for to staff our table for a couple hours during the weekend. Also we need some help setting up on Friday evening. This is a great chance to introduce other woodworkers to our guild. We would like to display the projects we made for the grab bag and jewelry box challenges. Also other small personal projects you would like to show off would be appropriate.
August's Meeting
A ugust's meeting we looked at the beginning of the top for the table. Jeff showed the circle cutting jig he had made for the router. Stephen had cut the sliding tapered dovetails for the legs in the base. There were several issues with omissions in the plans over how to complete the jig setup and use for this process.
Deadline for October's newsletter is September 25th
